Patronal Feast of St. Dominic of Guzman 4-8-23 Moliterno
St. Dominic is celebrated every year on August 4.
He is the patron of Moliterno and is honored with religious rites and civil events, in which the entire population participates.
The title of patron and protector of the town, in the past belonged to Our Lady of the Assumption, to whom was dedicated, also, the main church of Moliterno.
With the advent of the Dominicans, who settled, first in the convent of St. Nicholas in Pantanellis, in l860 the title of patron passed to St. Dominic of Guzman.
This followed the donation of the fiefdom of Moliterno by the Carafa family to a Spanish family, related to the Guzman family, to which St. Dominic belonged.
